About Natasha

I am a London-born, self-taught artist exploring the themes of the exotic and the erotic in my work, but also the sensual nature of the medium itself, be it acrylic on canvas, drawing or prints.

My artworks cover a wide variety of subject matter ranging from still life - fruits and peppers (often tongue-in-cheek) - to conceptual tropical landscapes and Pop paintings with an ironic twist, based on photographs from advertising and pop culture. Juxtaposed figurative images punctuated by advertising slogans and mantras are interwoven to produce an enigmatic Pop puzzle. The paintings are imbued with tropical and linguistic nuances that reflect my bilingual background and move to my adopted home - Costa Rica.

During more recent extended stays on Costa Rica's beautiful Pacific coast, I have been working on abstractions of nature, attempting to capture the wealth of colours of these lush lands and the dramatic light of the seascapes in this stunning part of the world.
